In the grand post office of 1880s London, Christmas letters arrived by the thousands. Each envelope bore the distinctive scent of its journey—some carrying the delicate fragrance of winter roses from countryside gardens, others the rich aroma of sealing wax still warm from the sender's study.
Miss Eleanor Hartwell, the chief sorter, could identify a letter's origin by scent alone. The parchment from Yorkshire estates carried hints of moorland heather, whilst London correspondence bore the sophisticated notes of bergamot and leather from gentlemen's clubs.
But it was the Christmas letters that held the most magic. Sealed with extra care, often adorned with pressed winter flowers, they carried not just words but the very essence of love and longing across the snowy landscape. Each letter was a promise, a hope, a piece of someone's heart wrapped in paper and scent.
As Christmas Eve approached, the final deliveries were made, carrying with them the fragrant wishes of a nation.

MAINTENANCE
